Ferrule is very well made. No issues at the pencil end, however the eraser holder is a smidge too tight. It’s a strain pushing in the erasers and later pulling them out as they’re worn down. The eraser holder piece should be looser fitting and only tighten when screwed into place. Love the springy clip - it works better than the one on Lazslo.
It has been nice being able to use more of a pencil before having to discard it.
I am a musician, educator, and creator and having tech that inspires is worth so much to my level of engagement and enjoyment of the process. I have used pencil holders for years and the Ferrule is the pinnacle of design, comfort, and function. The weight feels great in the hand. The rounded upper shaft with the hex lower shaft result in a comfortable hold and doesn't fatigue. An incomparable product in every sense of the word. Bravo!
Category Theory with the Ferrule. NOTHING beats the smell of pencils, paper and brass for maths. Exept perhaps white chalk and a blackboard ...
Shape and Mechanism are great. I really like it. But hardly get used to its weight and thickness. I'm using it without the eraser part to reduce weight.
I bought this pencil extender because I hate wasting good pencils and because I like the feel of a heavier weight in my hand when writing or drawing. This elegant item is not only functional, it is also beautiful. I do love using it. For those of us who write for a living, investing in such an object is a pleasure, I think.
Excellent quality
This is a wonderful peice of design, a brass body that feels like you are holding a pen but it's for holding pencils even very short one's, so you get the full use out of every pencil. I brought the leather sheath to go with it and it fits like a glove. Out of all of the great gear I've bought from Makers Cabinet this has to be my favourite buy.
I didn't have high of expectations for the ferrule pencil extender but once I had the product in hand and I used it, I could now see and feel the high quality of of this great product,it was money well worth it and then some!
At first I was hesitant because of the price but I really wanted to hold it in hand as it looked so elegant and weighted. I am very happy I took the chance. It is super engineered. To start the pop off twist mechanism to hold the pencil is really cool and easy. It allows me to adjust the length pencil I have in there. The Easter was am AWESOME addition to start but again the twist to hold mechanism came in clutch as it is very secure. The weight and balance are excellently designed and it just feels inspiring to hold and draw with.
3 kinds of awesomeness...I have purchased each and every makers cabinet product, either as gifts, or for myself. The Lazlo and Ferrule being the latest. I am a retired Chief Industrial designer and a current adjunct faculty member of a local Institute of art and design. Like every product they make, this is an extremely well designed and high quality product. It feels great in the hand, has a nice weight without being too heavy, and the grip shape gives you better ergonomics for using the humble pencil. This is also one of the few designs that actually holds an eraser in place. Overall, it’s clear that it will be an heirloom piece of art kit that will just get better with age.
I've been searching for a pencil extender with perfect fit for different diameters of pencils and for a lifetime use. Ferrule has surfaced much more than I expected. A precious item of stationary!
I loved ferrule as soon as I tried it, wonderful ergonomics and really good material. Today as I write to you I also got a quick response for my toolbox set that was supposed to arrive but due to a mistake an empty package was delivered, super nice to respond quickly and help me, Makers Cabinet is a really good company.

Overall product is great , and feels great writing with it , when I received it several pencils and erasers we're not in there perspective place in the box ,my first thoughts were that care wasn't taken in packing the items, which was slightly disappointing which if I'm honest did take away from my pristine box opening experience ! the lid my not have been tight enough down on the bottom box when taped , or the shipping box or holding tray may not be 100% fitted, these are super nit picky things , nothing arrived damaged and I am impressed with the product, I'm only leaving this because I know that this company is trying to turn over every rock to make the whole experience enjoyable. Best Pencil holder ever, high quality and very ergonomic.
Stoked to be getting another 22% of my pencils used with this beauty! Gone from using 61% to 83% of original length. First pencil on left is less than the 180mm starting length. 2nd is the stub length I used to get, and even that was hard to use toward the end. Then I got a Ferrule and now I get the much shorter stub at which point Ferrule doesn’t keep a tight grip. Might take a few years to pay off but have the pleasure of using my Ferrule while doing so. This item is very cute, beautiful and well made but a little heavy for me. And it is impossible to use for 8mm dia pencil (Graf Von Faber Castel).
This is a great pencil extender and a great companion for the hovel. The quality is incredible and works very well for most of my normal diameter pencils. This is, in my opinion, my best pencil extender so far.
This the perfect lead holder. I use it with Cretacolor watercolour lead and replaced the eraser with a blender. Yep! It was all planned. Now! I need more sizes because I want to fit my favorite 5.6mm leads. Back to the drawing table guys and thanks!
Using as a drawing tool I love the weight and balance of the holder as well as the aesthetics and form - it will be well used!
A clever and practical invention. I have a stack of reasonable quality pencils too short to use and this device has given new life to them with it’s ingenious locking mechanism.

Very well made as a pencil extender, although I am not as fond of the eraser holder. It is very hard to insert the eraser, and I have to be mindful to pull out a bit before it gets too worn down and I cannot get a grip on it.
Good product - 2nd time of me using this company. I love the ferrule and it works so well in my dressmaking. Will return again.

I’ve developed arthritis in my drawing hand over the last few years and it’s really limited the time that I spend drawing due to pain and stiffness. The shape, balance and weight of Ferrule has allowed me to enjoy drawing, designing and simply doodling again in a way that I thought had been lost to me forever. I’d resigned myself to this reality but it was still depressing to be honest. I’m retired but not that old really so I have the time but I’d lost the desire to do something I’ve always loved doing since childhood. So I am so grateful to Makers Cabinet for making the Ferrule and so glad that I finally took a chance got one. Those of you taking the time to read these reviews know what a big deal the Ferrule represents to me: the ability to express ideas, solve problems, create what’s in my mind and most importantly, to enjoy and get lost in the process again.
The Ferrule has a Sturdy, very nice grip with just the right amount of grip. . Helps me get the clean, straight or curvy lines I need in my drawings. So very happy with it.
