The track is really grabby and doesn’t allow the shuttles to move freely. I am unable to draw an ellipse as the grabbiness is more powerful than the magnet. I’m pretty disappointed. It also took 3 months to get here. I appreciate there was hold ups in manufacture but I spent a lot of money on this drawing tool so far I haven’t been able to use successfully once. Is there a lubricant I can use to prevent the shuttle from jamming?
I love my Iris and am a Mythbusters fan. Seeing Adam use it had me also contemplating the Elipso. While the iris was initially stiff, it improved with use. The Elipso didn’t. I’d had high hopes for it even going as far as ordering the extension arm and the piece that allows you to draw circles with it. However my experience using it was extremely underwhelming. The magnets don’t hold the paper firmly enough, the shuttles stick and aren’t smooth so it is constantly sticking/jerking and moving the pen around so that whatever your drawing turns out terrible. I sent an email expressing my concerns and asking if there was anything I could do to improve my experience with the tool. All I’ve gotten is the sound of crickets. No response either directly or via social media (instagram). Bitterly disappointing. Had already purchased the archive box but seriously doubt I’ll be purchasing any additional items
The holder for pencil doesn't have any mechanism to tight it. In the end pencil can be easily moved inside the holder, which is not suitable for any kind of precision drawing. Alternatively I need to by thicker pencil, but still I find this as flaw of this tool rather than "not right pencil"
An ingenious mechanical device and a lot of fun to play with.
This device is useful, beautifully designed and demonstrates the parametric equations of the ellipse with great clarity. It is a treasure.

The magnetic plate concept looks good and sounds good ( meaning: plausible) however it is too- difficult to (try to) position the device exactly and squarely to the metal / magnetized circle that is meant to be placed under the ( pictorial) drawing. Secondly the magnetization is in-sufficiently strong. In my experience the paper moves around once the device is set onto (however imprecisely)the magnetized circle. I’ve had to pinion down the 4 sides of the paper, to scotch tape down the paper sheet … it’s awful. Also the pencil holder’s grasp of the ink marker or pencil seems tenuous and not at all secured in place/ space; this makes operating / guiding the shuttles’s motions/ movements along their glide paths anything but smooth. I’m perfectly aware that this device’s owner perhaps needs to come to terms that he needs to prepare to invest many many hours of practice to handle the Elipso with grace and nimbleness. I’m just not in the mood and don’t have the steely -willpower or temperament to devote hours of concentration and effort to potentially fully master the control of the Elipso. with grace and fluidity.
